On August 22nd, in the Syr Darya region of Uzbekistan, the largest combined-cycle power plant project in Central Asia, jointly constructed by China and Uzbekistan, successfully completed the commissioning of its auxiliary power system. This large-scale power plant, covering an area of 66.2 hectares, has begun to take shape, with the overall progress currently reaching 72%. With an installed capacity of 1,600 megawatts, the power plant adopts world-leading gas turbine power generation technology. As a key project promoting energy infrastructure development in Central Asian countries, it not only significantly reduces natural gas demand but also effectively drives the development of local urban infrastructure and supporting industries.

"The project utilizes world-leading Mitsubishi J-class gas turbine technology, with an annual power generation capacity of 12 billion kilowatt-hours. According to calculations, it can save 1.1 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually, equivalent to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 2.2 million tons per year," said Zhang Yue, project manager of Tianjin Electric Power Construction Co., Ltd. under China Energy Engineering Group, the contractor of the project. The company has also undertaken the 500-megawatt photovoltaic EPC general contracting project in Nisong, Kashkadarya Region of Uzbekistan, which has already been put into operation.
